TIMELINE by Lonna Leghart

3/22 For sale sign went up; I called Kidder Matthews and spoke to Bob Willingham, who said the city was hoping to build a hotel there, hence the high list price and use of commercial real estate agent for a residential property. I immediately requested meetings with five council members and emailed our Neighborhood Watch Captain, Jaydon Sterling. Jaydon and I have been partnering on this quest ever since.

4/17 Completed meetings with each City Council member and John Conley

4/21 Jaydon posted photo of for sale sign on all-Vista Nextdoor. LOTS of responses!

4/23 Created poll on Nextdoor (Vale View Drive only) – 49 responses; everyone who answered is either opposed to hotel (91%) or needs more info to decide (8%). No one in favor. (Updated numbers as of 6/7/19.)

5/9 Jaydon and I met with South Vista Communities to inform them of my meetings and invite them into the work

5/20 Announced Neighborhood Meeting scheduled for 6/8; Jaydon began posting meeting fliers, door-knocking, and collecting petition signatures to keep 536 Matagual residential; John Conley announced to South Vista Communities that Mid-Continent Hospitality will submit staff report for council’s review on 6/11/19
